An open studio is an opportunity for painters to learn as part of a community and get hands-on guidance.
Attendees can bring their current projects (no new supplies provided), enjoy a short presentation about some painting basics, then solicit guidance from the presenters on anything they're struggling with related to their piece.
For example, someone might raise their hand to ask why they're struggling to get smooth coats of paint on a cape. After observing, the instructor might ask permission to demonstrate some corrections, then move on. During this period, the instructor(s) will be circling and asking questions, and may draw attention to common issues or learning opportunities that they observe along the way.
This open studio will be led by Matt McCarrick and Flint McInnis
We expect this studio to involve roughly 30 minutes of direct instruction, and 2 hours of individualized work time.
This event will be oriented for beginners, but there will be room for more advanced painters to receive individualized feedback.
